Sir and M'Lady Dine Out a lot - and right across Australia. We know what we like and don't like. We are prepared to try restaurants and share our views. We recognise that not everyone likes the same things (even we don't between the two of us) and not every experience at a restaurant is the same - we all want different things. We have one of Australia's fastest growing diverse restaurant blogs.

The Winery
Crown St
Surry Hills

The Winery is popular - so its busy. If you're going its best to book first - we did but the people in front of us hadn't and were told they would have to wait 45 minutes for a table.

Its a very pretty place - a bit Cinderella-ish with lots of subdued lighting and cosy nooks. At first it just seemed dark but our eyes adjusted and it was pleasant.
The first main ordered was ‘Steak frites’ - grilled sirloin, cafe de Paris butter and hand cut fries. It was a decent sized serving and the steak was cooked perfectly. The butter was delicious and the chips were really nice - it was a good solid meal for a reasonable price of $29.50.

The second main course was pumpkin, ricotta & sage ravioli with pine nuts, burnt butter with confit cherry tomatoes. It was delicious with the combinations of flavours working well - the only minor thing is that there could have been a bit more of it. It cost $24.

There are a lots of wines available by the glass - we had a lovely French red for only $12.50 a glass - nice stuff.

We enjoyed The Winery. The food was good, the decor was great, the service was excellent and it was a pleasant evening.
