Welcome

Sir and M'Lady Dine Out a lot - and right across Australia. We know what we like and don't like. We are prepared to try restaurants and share our views. We recognise that not everyone likes the same things (even we don't between the two of us) and not every experience at a restaurant is the same - we all want different things. We have one of Australia's fastest growing diverse restaurant blogs.

BAMBOO HOUSE - MELBOURNE CBD

Bamboo House
47 Little Bourke St
Melbourne 3000

Set among the vast number of Asian restaurants in China Town is Bamboo House - possibly the best of the best!
This place should be on everyones must do list - its that good. We couldn't fault a thing. We decided to have a meal of smaller servings rather than traditional mains - which turned out to be a great decision.

Dish number one was scallops with ginger and shallots. What can we say - they were sublime (always wanted to say that about food!). The meat was so tender and the flavours - brilliant. We ordered two each.
Dish number two was salt and pepper calamari. Wow. We had six large pieces of oh so tender calamari to share between the two of us - plenty! It was crisp and had the right blend of spices.
We then moved on to dish number three - Peking Duck - or a half serve to be correct). This generated a wonderful eight pancakes of juicy duck with crisp skin and tangy hoi sin sauce. Four each was perfect but we could have easily eaten more.

Finally we finished with Sichuan Beef. This was the most tender meat I've ever had - it melted in the mouth. Luckily we ended up with three large pieces each - again ample but so nice.
Bamboo House is amazing. Every dish was impeccable, as was the service and decor. The entire meal with rice and a glass of wine was only just over $100 - what a bargain. Go there.
